The Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM) is a materials research organization in Germany. Our mission is to ensure safety in technology and chemistry. Your responsibilities includeYour responsibilities include
Research in the framework of a joint IGF-project “Environmental Stress Cracking resistance of multiple-recycled PE-HD materials for safety relevant container applications”
- Investigation of Environmental Stress Cracking behaviour of relevant polymer materials based on PE-HD after various pre-exposure or multiple processing/recycling steps using the Full Notch Creep Test (FNCT) including subsequent fracture surface analysis, as well as further mechanical and physicochemical methods, comparative thermo-analytical investigations and microscopy (LM, SEM)
- Identification of altered damage mechanisms
- Project management including final report; co-operation with project partners and industry
Your qualificationsYour qualifications
- Successfully completed university degree (M.Sc./M.Eng.) and PhD in the field of Polymer Science or comparable
- Experience in the field of mechanical testing or environmental stress cracking and damage mechanisms
- Ideally, expertise in polymer durability or experience in the use of thermoanalytical methods and microscopy
- Very good knowledge of German and English (written and spoken)
- Ability to work in a team and willingness to cooperate
- Goal-oriented and structured way of working, as well as initiative commitment
- Good communication skills including publications in scientific journals and presentations at international conferences
- Willingness to learn and interested in interdisciplinary, applied research
